At Operation Veterans Care (OVeC), April is a time to recognize, uplift, and stand together with children and families living with autism and other developmental challenges.
Autism Acceptance Month goes beyond awareness—it is about embracing neurodiversity, promoting inclusion, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Across Jamaica, many families continue to navigate challenges related to diagnosis, support services, education, and social inclusion. At OVeC, we remain committed to being part of the solution by providing support, advocacy, and resources to those who need it most.
To every parent, every child, and every family:
This month, we celebrate your strength, your journey, and your resilience.
OVeC continues to:
Together, we can build a more inclusive Jamaica—one where every child is supported, understood, and empowered.
Meet Haley Moss — Florida’s first openly autistic attorney, and a powerful example of what inclusion truly looks like.
Her journey is more than a personal achievement—it is a statement to the world that autism is not a limitation, but a different way of thinking, creating, and contributing.
Haley Moss is helping to redefine what the legal profession looks like by bringing authenticity, intelligence, and lived experience into spaces that have not always been inclusive.
💬 Her story reminds us:
At Operation Veterans Care (OVeC), we believe in building pathways where every child—regardless of ability—can grow, succeed, and lead.
To every child on the spectrum:
👉 Your future is bright
👉 Your voice matters
👉 Your story is still being written

At Operation Veterans Care (OVeC), we believe that every child deserves not only the opportunity to thrive—but the right to be safe.
For children on the autism spectrum, water can be both calming and dangerously attractive. Many autistic children experience wandering (also known as elopement), and when water is nearby, the risks increase significantly. Too often, families are faced with heartbreaking tragedies that could have been prevented.
Swimming is not just a recreational activity for autistic children—it is a life-saving skill.
Children with autism are at a higher risk of drowning compared to their peers. Limited communication, sensory seeking behaviors, and lack of danger awareness can make water environments especially hazardous.
This is why early and adaptive swim instruction is critical.
We are calling on:
✔ Parents and caregivers
✔ Schools and educators
✔ Therapists and clinicians
✔ Community organizations
✔ Government agencies
To work together to ensure that every autistic child has access to swimming lessons that are:
At OVeC, we are committed to:

Together, we can protect lives.
Teaching an autistic child to swim is not optional—it is essential. It is protection. It is prevention. It is love in action.

Operation Veterans Care (OVeC) continues its mission of supporting vulnerable families across Jamaica. On February 28, 2026, our team provided financial assistance to Shakeira Robinson (In full black), a 33-year-old single mother who is courageously caring for two children with serious medical conditions. One of our directors, Ms. Enid White -Evans made the presentation in Kingston.
Shakeira’s journey has been marked by strength and resilience. Her eldest son was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in 2019, while her youngest son, now four years old, was diagnosed with Hirschsprung disease three years ago. Managing the care of two children with complex health needs presents ongoing emotional, physical, and financial challenges.
Recognizing these realities, OVeC stepped in to offer monetary support along with encouragement and compassion. This outreach reflects our continued commitment to standing with families during some of their most difficult moments.
At OVeC, we believe that no family should have to face such challenges alone. Through community support, partnerships, and donations, we strive to provide relief, hope, and practical assistance to those in need.
If you would like to partner with us or contribute to supporting families like Shakeira’s, we invite you to connect with us:
